# The Tool I Talk To: Wispr Flow for When Typing Is the Bottleneck

There are days my hands do not cooperate, and days my focus does not. On both kinds of days the keyboard is where good thinking goes to die. I would have the sentence in my head, clean, and then lose half of it somewhere between my brain and my fingers. That is not a motivation problem. It is a bottleneck, and for years I treated it like a character flaw instead of a plumbing one.

Wispr Flow is the thing that fixed the plumbing. It is voice-to-text: I talk, and the words land in whatever I am working in - the doc, the email, the field notes I take with one hand while the other is holding something in the dirt. It is good enough that I use it for real work, not just quick notes, which is the bar most dictation tools never cleared for me.

**The honest math.** It is $15 a month. That is the whole story on price. Wispr's own line is that it takes you from around 40 words a minute typing to over 200 by voice. That is their number, not my stopwatch - I have never clocked myself. The number I can vouch for is the one that matters to me: the count of good sentences I lose in a day went from a lot to near zero. For $15 that was not a close call.

**Who it is for.** If typing is hard for you - arthritis, a tremor, an old injury, a brain that runs faster than ten fingers can - this is a capacity tool, not a luxury. It does not lower the bar. It removes the thing standing between your thinking and the page. Same for anyone doing real work away from a desk, where a keyboard is the wrong tool for the moment.

**Who it is not for.** If typing has never been your bottleneck, you do not need this and I am not going to pretend you do. It also needs a decent microphone and a quiet-enough room; a loud cafe is its weak spot. And it is a subscription - if a $15 recurring charge is what stands between you and rent, this is not the month for it.
