Everyone who falls for regenerative agriculture describes the soil and stops at the market, and the first question every newcomer has -- *where do I get that food?* -- never gets answered. The Node answers it as one neighborhood building doing three things at once: the Cafe (what community is), the Kitchen (what an $8,999 blast chiller unlocks), and the Grocery (the market made real). The supermarket was built as a display of abundance, never a functional business for the neighborhoods a federal map already flags as abandoned; the Node is the market built to center the food instead of perform it. Succession (the Flying Star employee buyout; ~2.9M boomer-owned businesses facing a cliff) appears here as proof the model transfers, not as the headline. Beneath the storefront sits Door 0 (The First Room -- the gift economy in one backyard, no permission required) and its companion The Memory (how a gift economy remembers itself past the range of one person's head -- direct giving, never barter, with tags as receipts for generosity nobody was owed).
